CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda will come home for Japan’s charity match against a J-League select side as the Japan Football Association confirmed the release of all 12 European-based players for the March 29 game in Osaka.

In addition to Asian Cup MVP Honda, the JFA on Sunday also received word that Schalke 04 defender Atsuto Uchida, Stuttgart striker Shinji Okazaki and Augsburg midfielder Hajime Hosogai will take part.

The other eight players: goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima (Lierse SK), defenders Yuto Nagatomo (Inter Milan), Tomoaki Makino (Cologne) and Maya Yoshida (VVV Venlo), midfielders Yuki Abe (Leicester City) and Makoto Hasebe (Wolfsburg), and forwards Daisuke Matsui (Grenoble) and Akihiro Ienaga (Mallorca), were confirmed on Saturday.

The European clubs are not obligated to release the players as the game at Nagai Stadium is not an official ‘‘A’’ international friendly designated by FIFA.

But the JFA has managed to secure the players with the full understanding of the teams in Europe. The JFA has been flooded by calls of support from the international soccer community since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami that have devastated Japan.
