Former London Mayor Boris Johnson claims the European Union was behaving like German Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler by trying to create a superstate, he said in a Sunday newspaper interview.

Tesco, Britain’s biggest retailer, has pledged to give all leftover food from its stores to charity.
In the announcement on Friday, its said that by the end of 2017, not a single unsold tomato or carrot would be thrown away.
“We believe no food that could be eaten should be wasted – that’s why we have committed that no surplus food should go to waste from our stores,” said Tesco chief executive Dave Lewis, who is trying to improve the supermarket chain’s image after an accounting scandal.

British carmaker Aston Martin—James Bond’s favorite set of wheels—on Wednesday said it had picked Wales as the site for a second plant due to begin production in 2020.
Output at the plant will include the new DBX crossover model that incorporates SUV features, as the classic brand attempts to diversify including into a line of electric cars.

Adventurer Tracey Curtis-Taylor on Saturday completed her epic flight from Britain to Australia, landing her vintage, open-cockpit 1942 Boeing Stearman in Sydney.
“I need a drink,” she joked after finishing the final leg of the three-month journey which saw her contend with some treacherous weather in the air and logistical obstacles on the ground.

The Beatles’ first recording contract was signed in Hamburg, Germany, where the band honed its craft performing in the city’s boisterous nightclub district.
The 1961 recording session produced the single “My Bonnie.” It was released on the Polydor label in Germany only and never hit the top charts. But the tune led directly to the Beatles’ discovery back home, a contract with EMI the following year and their first hit, “Love Me Do.”

Veterans wearing medals, some in wheelchairs festooned with the Union flag, paraded through central London on Saturday to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory over Japan and the end of World War II.
